What I’m listening to: I went deep into a 90s Alt Rock Pop Spotify playlist after hearing No Doubt’s “Sunday Morning” out in the world. It was a wild trek, remembering Counting Blue Cars and Breakfast at Tiffany’s and so much REM and Alanis and that dumb “Roll to Me” song that suddenly reminded me of my sister because she was the only person, around age 8, that I knew who really liked that song, and I texted her as much and by the time I hit send the song had ended because I guess it’s only 2 minutes long? Also, Bjork.
What I’m watching: Brad had to finish Great British Bake Off so I watched the final two episodes with him after not seeing any and oh lawd let me just say is the oven on in the house because this bakery just got real warm SANDRO my goodness gracious. Also, White Lotus.
What I’m reading: Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Danielle Zevin. It’s quite lovely! It’s about a couple of friends who get really successful making this video game. The story follows the ins and outs of their friendship over the years. I recommend.
What I ate: Turkey. Stuffing. Mashed potatoes. Next.
What I can’t stop thinking about: I read an article in the New Yorker (I know) about the rising political tensions between Taiwan and China, which I hate to admit that I knew nothing about. (No one seems to be talking about it in my circles so, like Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, I volunteer.) And then I picked up The Atlantic (again, I know) and there is a whole different article in there about the same situation. There is a rising risk of potential conflict and … I had no idea? Shame on me for not diving in sooner. This whole scenario is fascinating from an American international relations perspective, but it’s also important to know about for current events so you can read more about it here and here.
